Retro Rubber Challenge 12

Hey Friends – it’s time for a new challenge over on the Retro Rubber Challenge Blog.

Challenge 12 is an embellishment challenge to use brads.

Sadly, the weeks are getting me and I haven’t seen any time at the craft table.  I’ve also decided that I’ll be stepping down from the design area  of the team and will just be helping behind the scenes on the Challenge Blog.

Remember that every other Tuesday a new challenge is posted.

Retro Rubber Challenge 11 | Kind of Sketchy

Hello there!!

I am skidding in just in the knick of time to share my card with you for the week.  We were at my brothers over Easter – and I’ll be back to share that trip with you later this week.

For today, we are still playing with Challenge 11 at Retro Rubber.

It was a sketch challenge so it was fairly easy.  I hope you play along!!

The stamp set that I choose to work with this week is from Stampin Up!, called Word Play.  It’s an older one, but always a classic when it comes to great sentiments.

I wanted to use these metal brads from Simple Stories so I found some paper to pair with it.  I decided to change the scallops under the main panel to a doily.

It was very fun, and ready to go.

Make sure you check out the Retro Rubber Challenge Blog and play along.

Retro Rubber Challenge 11

Hello there friends!!

Challenge 11 is up over at the Retro Rubber Challenge Blog.  It’s a sketch, which I love!!  Head over and play along.

I will post my card next Tuesday when it’s my turn to share!!

And with that – I will not be back to post until next week.  We are going to enjoy Easter at my brothers house and there isn’t enough time for everything.

Have a great Easter with your family – and remember the Reason for the Season!  ♥

Retro Rubber Challenge 10 | Emboss It!

HEY!  It’s Tuesday and time to play with a new challenge at Retro Rubber.

This time our challenge is to bring out the Embossing Powder.  When I started stamping, this was probably one of the first huge “extras” that I was adding to cards.  It really was a fun way to make something really pop off your card.

I then really forgot about it, until recently, when I invested in some more powders and dusted of the heat tool.  (Pun intended there!! HA!)

I couldn’t decide which way to go, and then I procrastinated too long.  I ended up stamping this tree from the old Stampin Up! set, Thoughts and Prayers.

I embossed it in white and then sponged around the image with my ink.  I embossed the sentiment in black.  I kept the rest really simple as I do with all the Sympathy type cards I make.  I matted with some more cardstock and then I added to some matching cardstock for a base.

Make sure you head over to the Retro Rubber Challenge Blog to play along with us!!

Thank you for visiting me!

Retro Rubber Challenge 9 | Tag, You're It!

I am back with my post for the latest challenge on the Retro Rubber Blog.

The challenge is to create a tag or to use a tag on your card/project.

I simply went with a tag.  These manila tags were on my desk, so I figured it was a sign right?

I stamped the sentiment from an older SU set - Bring on the Cake.  I colored with Copics to get an ombre' effect.  I paired that with some fun paper and washi tape.

I'm not always a fan of these hole protectors on the tags, so I dressed mine up.  I die cut a circle and scored it in half.  Then I added it with tape and punched a hole.

I wanted to add a ribbon, but I lent my mom my whole ribbon basket.  It's taking her quite awhile to sort through the whole basket.  Hee Hee Hee.

Make sure you swing by the Retro Rubber Challenge blog, and see what the Mod Squad has done with this challenge!!

Retro Rubber Challenge 8 | Eyelets

Hey there!!

I hope you are coming to me from the Retro Rubber Challenge blog – but if not, click over there today and check out our new challenge.

We are challenging you to dig deep into your stash of embellies and find some eyelets.

I had to go and buy some!!  And then I had to dig around for my eyelet setters and it dawned on me, I had the Crop A Dile.  We only use that thing for punching holes in the kids’ belts!!  HA!!

So I had to remember how to use it.

The eyelets I picked up were springy colors and I had this layout in my head.  So I dug around for a stamp set to match and came across this one from Stampin’ Up – For the Birds.  It has some cute stamps to color with Copics.

I used some scraps and cut them to 4” strips and then added the eyelets.  I decided the card would look better cut down to a 4.25” square card.

I wanted my lil wagon to be red, so I don’t know if it goes with the colors, but it’s cute!!

Make sure you dig around and find some eyelets and play with us!!  We’d love to have you!!
