Introducing Chicken In | MHK October Release

Hi crafty friends!  I am excited to announce the newest release from MHK Designs.  Make sure you check out the Blog all this week for the new release details.   You will also find Giveaway Details there. Then head over the the Etsy Store to shop!

Today's set is a super fun farm set, called Chicken In.    It features 3 images and 5 sentiments.  The chicken wire is my favorite.  This can be added to card background or on top of already patterned papers!!

10-16 MHK

I colored the image with my Copics, and die cut it out.  I also die cut a scallop circle which is only barely visible.  I printed the sentiment on vellum and matched it up with the barnwood papers.  Then I added a scallop border and some twine to finish the card off.

This ended up being such a fun card. I am excited to share it with you all today.

Follow the links above, or click on the image below to shop for this set.  Tomorrow will be a great masculine set.

Mother’s Day Card | Weekend Update

Hi Friends!!

This has been a pretty eventful weekend around the Skiff Farm.

So let’s jump in.

If you missed the Youtube hop, check out the beginning HERE.  Then follow along.  Comment and you will have a chance to win some major prizes!!  What a fun part to the weekend!!

So we started out the weekend ready to go.  Greg and I had a mini date at the golf course to kick off their summer.

It is nice to get out just the two of us again, now that we can leave everyone else at home.  (Well, or with Grandma!)

Saturday was RC’s home track meet.  Both Greg and I were working and I was pumped to finally watch RC run.

Mom had called about 8:30 to see what time to come.  Then she called about about an hour later to say they were not coming and the barn was on fire.

What a sad day.

This was a barn they built from the ground up.  They started in in 1992, and added as they went.  Over the years, it turned into storage and a chicken coop.  Thankfully all of Dad’s chickens got out, but the three new turkey’s didn’t.  More than likely it was the heat lamp for them that started it.  We don’t really know.

I went home and checked on everyone.  Helped mom make lunch for the firemen and just overall wanted to be there to see what was happening.

Then I went back to town to check on RC and pick everyone else up.

I enjoyed finally getting see him run!

Mom and the kids and I then went back in to watch the new Jungle Book movie.  Great movie, but hit home with “man’s red fire!”

Yesterday, we had 4H and church with them for Rural Life Sunday.  Lunch and dinner with my parents and just some down time.  We got a few household things done.

This is the card I created for my mom for Mother’s Day from the new Lawn Fawn set.  I love this set.

I had seen this idea on the inter-webs and found the supplies on my last trip out of town.  I used my washi tape and die to create the flowers.  I got some white beads to fill the milk jug .

I gave mom a couple other things but wanted to share this with you.

That was our busy weekend!  I’ll be back soon with a FAQ video!

Hello Awesome

Hi again friends!!

I am sharing a cute but super simple card with you today!  I am playing with another challenge over at Retro Sketches.

This card happened a bit my accident as I was digging though my paper stash.  The definition is on the back of the striped paper.  I thought the stripes would be pretty on the sketch I found at RS.  They showed them different on the sketch, but I thought this would be a fun variation.  And I knew I wanted to use these wood words from Jillibean Soup.

I then finished it off with twine and it was done.  Super simple!

Feathered Friend Update!

I wanted to share a couple photos from the Chicken Coop.  I did move the turkeys out there last week as they were too big for the box in the garage.  They are still all alone in there own pen, as the new momma chicken does not like them at all.

Momma and babies are good.  She is crabby – but that also translate to a good and protective momma.

She’s had them outside and they love it.  However our lil snow storm was probably a bit chilly for them.  When I went to check on them, she had kept them inside.
